Top 7 Spore birds I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley

We absolutely love the sheer, insane creativity of all the Spore creatures that have been uploaded so far. We’re going to highlight some of our favorites, and we’d love to hear what you think (and to see more!) If your creature isn’t here, don’t panic - we might be saving it for a different category, or we might have simply missed it.

So, without further ado - the Top 7 Spore birds I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley:

7. Fletter

Author: Cobdogle

Author’s description: Fletters top hobbies include; ruffling their wings, cleaning their wings, showing off their wings and talking to their wings. Too bad they can’t fly with their wings. D:

Our take: Sure, it looks friendly enough, until you notice the huge beak, claws, spikes on the tail, and the tip of its tail which undoubtedly shoots something unspeakably nasty. The Fletter can stick to its wings, and we can stick to not being in the same dark alley with it.

6. Aracocra

Author: Bobzenub

Author’s description: The aracocra’s ancestors lost ability of lying long ago to become the most feared predator on the ground. The feathers and bones of its lower-arm framed into each other during the evolutionary process to function as razor-sharp claws.

Our take: The description sounds bang-on. Those spikes alone are reason enough to give the Aracocra a wide berth. The only good news is that the spikes would likely impale and kill you before its claws can get any chance to do anything even worse.

5. Psyduck

Author: Anakin_Anderson

Author’s description: none

Our take: What’s so scary about a duck? You’re right, nothing - no spikes, no huge pointy beak, no giant claws, no obvious ways to bring about a swift but painful death. There’s obviously something wrong with THIS duck, however - I dare you to stay calm if something like this jumps out at you. Even worse, there are dark rumors that it is… a Pokemon…

4. Phoenixian

Spore Creature - Phoenixian

Author: Esepibe

Author’s description: The body of this legendary bird is said to reach 1000 degrees on the inside. When this amazing creatures live their last years, their bodies burn to ashes, and from there new Phoenixians are born.Up to three can born from the ashes.

Our take: It’s that knowing smile, really. With that expression, you just KNOW it’s a villain. It’s probably plotting your downfall right now!

3. Anzu (Warcraft Mount)

Spore Creature - Anzu

Author: SniperMonkey

Author’s description: Anzu can be found on the World of Warcraft. They are domesticated animals, relied upon for transportation and require a high riding skill. It resembles a bird but, as a ground mount, it does not allow the rider to actually fly.

Our take: If the Anzu is really domesticated, it probably poses no immediate threat. However, as a rare epic mount in World of Warcraft, it likely belongs to an extremely powerful character, who has spent hundreds if not thousands of hours gathering the most powerful epic lootz in the game. And frankly, these people are a bit scary.

2. Mechobo

Author: Geekorama

Author’s description: Another SporeTube.com creation! This is a very rare bio-mechanical bird. It has unbelievable speed and endurance thanks to it’s state-of-the-art rear turbo afterburners. It also has stock semi-automatic rear and front hidden plasma guns to ambush it’s prey.

Our take: Okay, we admit it. It doesn’t actually look that threatening (although “semi-automatic rear and front hidden plasma guns” does sound a bit dangerous). We mainly just think it looks extremely cool, and we want one.

1. Unextincted Dodo

Spore Creature - Unextincted Dodo

Author: Bobzenub

Author’s description: When the marines arrived on the Isle of Mauritius, they ran into this flightless pidgeon. It’s enough to say: they didn’t make back to the ship :)

Our take: This looks like the ultimate badass. Sure, no impaling spikes, hidden plasma guns, knowing smile, or psychological problems. This bird is just MAD, and it wants to take it out on YOU. Avoid at all costs.

Disagree with our choices? Know a Spore bird that could wipe the floor with any of these wimps? Let us know in the comments - or better yet, add it to Best Spore Creatures and see how well it REALLY does against the other Spore alley brawlers!

  1. Bobzenub Says:

Aracocra and the Unextincted Dodo are my creations, both are part of my “revisioned evolution” collection. For Aracocra, I recreated an ornithomimidian dinosaur’s basic body, then shaped it until it became more avian-like. The Dodo’s basic was a T-Rex :)

You should maybe think of adding credits on each creature you pick, authors names would be good.
